Bulgarian Christmas Eve (Badni Vecher) on December 24th is a beloved family tradition. Households gather around a table laden with an odd number of meatless dishes — stuffed peppers, beans, nuts, dried fruit, and banitsa with lucky fortunes. The eldest or youngest family member performs a ritual with a Yule log (badnik) and incense to ensure health and prosperity for the coming year.
