- 400 g elbow macaroni
- 3 cups sharp cheddar (shredded)
- 2.5 cups milk
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
- 0.5 tsp mustard powder
- 0.25 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
Steps
- 1Preheat oven to 190 °C (375 °F). Cook macaroni until al dente; drain.
- 2Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute.
- 3Gradually whisk in milk. Cook, stirring, until thickened (4-5 min).
- 4Remove from heat. Stir in 2.5 cups cheddar, mustard powder, salt, and pepper until melted.
- 5Fold in cooked macaroni. Pour into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
- 6Top with remaining cheddar and breadcrumbs. Sprinkle paprika over top.
- 7Bake 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
