A beautifully fragrant Bulgarian Easter bread swirled with rose-flavoured lokum (Turkish delight) and walnuts – unique and unforgettable.

Ingredients

Serves:10
  • 600 g flour
  • 180 g sugar
  • 150 g butter
  • 4 pcs eggs
  • 200 ml warm milk
  • 7 g dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp rose water
  • 150 g rose lokum (Turkish delight)
  • 100 g walnuts
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Steps

  1. 1Activate yeast in warm milk.
  2. 2Beat eggs, sugar, butter and vanilla until combined.
  3. 3Mix in flour and yeast to form a soft dough; rise 1.5 hours.
  4. 4Roll out dough; scatter chopped lokum and walnuts; roll up.
  5. 5Braid in a greased loaf tin; rise 30 minutes.
  6. 6Bake at 170°C for 40 minutes.
