A rich baked moussaka with ground lamb, aubergine and creamy béchamel – a festive twist on Bulgaria's most iconic dish.

Ingredients

Serves:6
  • 500 g ground lamb
  • 2 pcs aubergine
  • 3 pcs potatoes
  • 1 pc onion
  • 2 pcs tomatoes
  • 3 pcs eggs
  • 300 ml yoghurt
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • to taste salt and pepper

Steps

  1. 1Fry the lamb mince with onion and tomatoes; season.
  2. 2Slice and fry aubergine and potatoes separately.
  3. 3Layer potato, lamb, and aubergine in a baking dish.
  4. 4Beat eggs with yoghurt and flour for the topping.
  5. 5Pour over the moussaka.
  6. 6Bake at 180°C for 45 minutes until golden.
