  • 2 tsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp cooking oil
  • 1 l water

    Hard-boil eggs gently for 10 minutes; cool slightly, do not fully cool.

    Dissolve red food colouring in hot water with vinegar.

    Submerge warm eggs in the dye bath for 5–10 minutes.

    Remove and wipe with a cloth dipped in oil for shine.

    For other colours, use separate colour baths.

    Store in a bowl at room temperature; the first cracked egg on Easter morning brings luck.
