Cherry Memorial Saturday (Chereshova Zadushnitsa)

About

Chereshova (Cherry, or Summer) Memorial Saturday — the Saturday before Pentecost. It takes its name from the cherries ripening at that time, which are handed out in remembrance together with boiled wheat and bread. Families visit the graves, light candles and attend the general memorial service.
