Christmas (Koleda) on December 25th celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ and is one of the most joyful holidays in Bulgaria. Families gather for festive meals with roasted meats and traditional pastries after the meatless Christmas Eve. Carol singers (koledari) go from house to house wishing health and prosperity while performing ancient songs.
