Holy Saturday

Holy Saturday is the day between Good Friday and Easter on which Orthodox Christians await the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is the final day of Holy Week — a day of quiet hope and preparation for the holiest Christian feast. In the evening a solemn Paschal service is held in churches, and shortly before midnight the priest proclaims "Christ is risen!" as believers light candles from the holy flame. By tradition this is when the dyeing of the eggs and the baking of the Easter sweet bread (kozunak) are completed for the festive table.
