Frequently Asked Questions

What is a "bridge day"?
A bridge day is a workday that sits between a public holiday and a weekend. Taking it as paid leave connects the holiday to the weekend into one long break — often 4 or more consecutive days off for just 1 day of leave.
How is leave "efficiency" calculated?
Efficiency is the number of days off you get divided by the number of leave days you spend. For example, 1 leave day that yields a 4-day break has an efficiency of 4.0. Suggestions are ranked by efficiency.
Are substitute days included?
Yes. When a public holiday (other than the Easter days) falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the next workday is non-working (Labour Code Art. 154) — those substitute days are included in the 2032 plan.
Where does the holiday data come from?
We use Bulgaria's official non-working public holidays, including the movable Easter days. The data is maintained in our database and also powers the holidays calendar.
