They are computed with the standard astronomical sunrise/sunset equation from each city’s latitude, longitude and the date, then shown in the local timezone (with daylight saving time applied).

Are the times accurate?

Yes, accurate to about a minute for the listed cities. Atmospheric refraction and the visible solar disc are accounted for (the standard −0.833° angle).

What is day length?

It is the time from sunrise to sunset. It is longest around the summer solstice (June in the north) and shortest around the winter solstice (December in the north).
