  • 800 g crushed San Marzano tomatoes
  • 4 pieces garlic cloves
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 10 g fresh basil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 0.5 tsp dried oregano

    Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Crush the garlic cloves and cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

    Add the crushed tomatoes and stir to combine. Season with salt, pepper, oregano, and a pinch of sugar.

    Simmer uncovered on low heat for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.

    Remove from heat and stir in fresh basil. Taste and adjust seasoning.
