In 2026, Portugal has 13 public holidays (These are the thirteen national holidays (feriados nacionais), observed across mainland Portugal. Carnival (Entrudo, the Tuesday 47 days before Easter) is deliberately absent: it is a discretionary "tolerância de ponto" granted by government decree year by year, not a statutory holiday. Municipal holidays are also excluded — Lisbon keeps 13 June for Saint Anthony and Porto 24 June for Saint John — as are the regional days of the Azores and Madeira).
