What is an ЕИК?
The ЕИК (Unified Identification Code, sometimes UIC) is the unique number of every Bulgarian legal entity, issued by the Registry Agency. For companies in the Commercial Register the ЕИК equals their BULSTAT code — 9 digits for the entity itself and 13 for its branches.
What is the difference between ЕИК and BULSTAT?
For companies, none in practice — since 2008 the BULSTAT code of commercial entities became their ЕИК. The BULSTAT register still records subjects outside the Commercial Register, where natural persons are identified by their ЕГН/ЛНЧ instead.
How is an ЕИК validated?
By a check digit: the first 8 digits are weighted 1–8, the sum is taken mod 11, and the remainder must equal the 9th digit (a remainder of 10 triggers a re-weigh with 3–10). For 13-digit codes, digits 9–12 are weighted 2, 7, 3, 5 against the 13th digit.
What does a 13-digit ЕИК mean?
A branch or subdivision code: the first 9 digits are the parent entity's ЕИК and the last 4 identify the branch. The validator shows both.
Does the tool check whether the company actually exists?
No — the check is formal (structure and check digit). Whether a code is actually registered, and to whom, can be checked for free in the Commercial Register of the Bulgarian Registry Agency.

No. The check runs entirely in your browser — the number is never sent to a server and nothing is saved.
