Frequently asked questions

How do I check whether a price is correctly converted to euro?

Divide the lev price by the fixed rate 1.95583 and round to 2 decimals (euro cent). A third decimal of exactly 5 rounds up. Example: 10 BGN ÷ 1.95583 = 5.1129… → €5.11. If the label shows a different figure, the price is incorrectly converted.

What is the official lev–euro rate?

The rate is irrevocably fixed at 1 EUR = 1.95583 BGN from 1 January 2026. It does not move and is not market-dependent, so the conversion always gives the same result.

What is dual pricing and how long is it mandatory?

Dual display means prices are shown in both euro and lev at the same time. It is mandatory during the transition period through 30 June 2026 so consumers can compare and watch for correct conversion.

How is rounding done during conversion?

You convert using the full six-significant-figure rate (1.95583) with no truncation, then round the result to the nearest euro cent. Rounding the rate first or truncating digits is not allowed — only the final amount is rounded.

My price looks rounded up — is that legal?

Mathematical rounding to the cent (half rounds up) is normal and legal. But a merchant may not use the changeover to actually raise prices — a jump well above the rounding can be a violation. This tool shows the exact value so you can compare.

Are my entered amounts stored anywhere?

No. Everything is computed in your browser — nothing is sent to any server and nothing is saved.
