The daily benefit is 90% of the average daily insurable income over the last 24 calendar months, floored at the minimum daily wage and capped at the average daily net pay. Monthly that is roughly 90% of the average monthly insurable income (max €2112).

How long is paid maternity leave in Bulgaria?

410 days for pregnancy and birth, 45 of them before the due date. Afterwards, until the child turns 2, a flat monthly child-care benefit is paid — €460.17 in 2026.

What are the eligibility conditions?

12 months of insurance record with sickness-and-maternity (ОЗМ) cover. The record need not be continuous or with a single employer.

Can I work while receiving the benefit?

Yes — returning to work before the leave ends pays 75% of the benefit (rule effective 1 January 2026; previously 50%). It applies to both the 410 days and the second year.
