Frequently asked questions
How is the fuel cost of a trip calculated?
Litres needed = distance ÷ 100 × consumption (L/100km); total cost = litres × price per litre. If you tick "round trip", the distance is doubled.
What is the difference between L/100km and km/L?
L/100km is how many litres you burn per 100 kilometres (lower = more efficient) — the European standard. km/L is how far you go on one litre (higher = more efficient). The calculator accepts both.
Can I split the cost between people?
Yes. Enter the number of passengers and the calculator shows the cost per person — handy for carpooling and sharing expenses.
Does it work for diesel, petrol, LPG and EVs?
Yes, for any fuel measured in litres — just enter that fuel’s consumption and price per litre. For electric cars use a kWh-based calculator instead.
Are my inputs stored?
No. The whole calculation runs in your browser — nothing is sent or saved.
