Frequently asked questions
How often are exchange rates updated?
Once per day. The source is the European Central Bank (ECB) via the Frankfurter API. Rates reflect the ECB reference rate for the most recent business day.
Can I use these rates for real payments?
No. The ECB publishes reference rates — actual bank and exchange rates include a spread and fees. Use this calculator only for guidance.
Why are some currencies missing?
Frankfurter covers 31 of the most-traded currencies on the ECB list. Cryptocurrencies and rare fiat currencies are not included.
Why doesn’t EUR → BGN change?
The Bulgarian lev is pegged to the euro at 1.95583 BGN per 1 EUR under a currency board arrangement that has been in place since 1997. The rate does not float daily.
Do you save the amounts I enter?
No. Calculations happen in your browser. The server only fetches ECB rates — nothing user-entered is stored.
Why is there a tiny difference between reverse conversions?
Rounding on multiplication. (USD → EUR → USD) can differ by a fraction of a cent because of the digits shown after the decimal point.
